Mission & Vision

Founded in 2018, St. Louis Teacher Residency recruits, trains, and supports effective educators who are committed to the city’s public schools. STLTR prepares and develops educators who are capable of accelerating student achievement and meeting the needs of the students and families they serve. Our goal is that St. Louis Teacher Residency (STLTR) will serve as a model for high-quality educator preparation and development in the region. STLTR educators will become leaders in their schools and classrooms, expanding opportunity for students in the city of St. Louis.

The Impact

By training and developing educators specifically for the St. Louis context, STLTR plays an integral role in addressing educational inequities that persist in our region along racial and economic lines. Over the next five years, St. Louis Teacher Residency will strengthen and expand our educator preparation programs to certify 50 highly-qualified teachers for St. Louis public school classrooms each year. STLTR will build capacity through deeply embedded school partnerships, supporting teachers and instructional leaders in the schools where we work. In this way, STLTR will support over 125 educators and 8,000 of our city’s students each year.
