Sydney Held, Resident Instructional Coach

Sydney graduated from the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Sydney taught fourth grade at Brookside Charter School in Kansas City for five years. During her tenure as a classroom teacher, she served as the fourth-grade team lead, mentored two student teachers, and facilitated professional development around classroom technology and effective Writers Workshop practices. Sydney also led her school to implement 1:1 Chromebooks in 2019 for 3rd-8th grade, helping move her school to 21st century teaching practices. Sydney has also facilitated professional development at the Missouri Charter School conference each year, focusing on best practices in Google Classroom and Google Tools. Sydney moved back to her hometown of St. Louis in summer 2020 and has been working to support our organization in providing high-quality teachers to our students in St. Louis City schools. Sydney is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Kansas.
